One Big Project Done: Herb Garden

My beautiful herb garden had turned into a mass of weeds.  It felt wonderful to finally get that cleaned up and looking tidy again!

The weed filled beds before I cleaned them out.

During cleaning...

And after.

The back left bed is all chives.  The two diagonal beds have oregano, mint, thyme, rosemary, sage, and tarragon.  The front right bed is bee balm, tiger lilies (for pretty) and a corner of freshly planted basil  seeds all surrounding the pipe for our well.

To complete the tidy it up I wanted to trim the weeds around the outer edges, but after about a hundred pulls on the weed trimmer I gave up!

  1. Looks great !~! Our clay soil requires deep watering before weeds can be pulled so I have spent several afternoons lately doing just that and yes indeed, that feeling of satisfaction when looking out at the freshly weeded beds rides well in my heart. Not so well in my worn-out hands and knees--this early morning it is my hips that have driven me out of the bed and into the laundry where "stand-up jobs" are easily undertaken. Always something needing to be done in that quarter.

Keep up the photos-they inspire me to emulate your progress and successes.

  3. Looks good. It's always nice to take a weedy garden and clean it up. Plants seem to double in size when the weed pressure is gone.
